My personal favorite Jesus story (in woodgrain)
by Terry inmy favorite jesus storya couple of years past retirement, i moved into a "retirement community" .
old folks home) which was convenient like a hotel.. once a week there would be a coffee and doughnuts meet and greet get-together so you would know who your neighbors were.. well .
.. i attended a few and missed a few.

Good story, Terry! Sometimes ya gotta go along to get along. In this case, it doesn't hurt anybody and you made a lot of old folks happy by "confirming" their delusion.
Could I interest you in an autographed 8 x 10 glossy of Moses?

Oh yeah, forgot to point out that the article got Rutherford's name wrong. It's not James Rutherford, it was Joseph Franklin Rutherford.
They also failed to state that his self-styled title of "Judge" was on the basis that he served as a temporary judge in a Missouri circuit for a few days. He was hardly the legal scholar he wanted people to think he was.

Like many others, I too wonder what happened to the Cadillacs. If anyone can come up with the VIN numbers, perhaps they can be traced. Wouldn't it be cool to actually have at least one of them in working order? I'm sure lots of us folks would chip in to make it happen if they still exist and we could find them.
Oh well, just another pipe dream that's more fun to imagine than it is practical.
Thanks for posting this, Terry! It was a great find.

Jehovah's Witnesses: remembering the weird and wacky!
by Vanderhoven7 indo you remember some of the weird and wacky stuff emanating from the watchtower society?
let's make a list from memory that we can use to inject a little humor into our discussions with jehovah's witnesses.
- venus may be an enormous jurassic park.. - germs don't cause disease.. - no beards allowed.

All this tripe is from the same folks who once said people shouldn't chew gum because you need the saliva for digestion. The Golden Age, predecessor to Awake!, used to contain all sorts of gems like this, mostly made up by its weirdly eccentric editor who had no knowledge of the subject he was pontificating on. -

Encouraged to do something = forced/intimidated
by neat blue dog inin a recent article there was this experience from el salvador:.
"during the meeting, brother baltasar perla, sr., who later became a member of the branch committee, asked all the elders present to give him their government-issued identity cards.
he then informed the elders that their names and addresses would be included in a written request to the government for legal recognition... then explained to us that since our names and addresses would be in that document, if the authorities ever wanted to ban our work, we would be the first ones they would come after and the first ones to be thrown in jail.

A few years ago, the Borg required each congregation's elders to review their "excess funds" and consider "whether" these funds could be "donated" to the world-wide work.
Yeah, right. In actuality, they were being coerced into handing over those funds and to keep doing so if the congregation's balance ever got above about two months expenses. If any congregation balked, the elders were simply replaced with ones who would be more
compliantcooperative. Sheesh! Talk about your strong-arm tactics. The Mafia could take lessons. -

"...some astronomers have advanced the idea that animals like the dinosaurs that once roamed this planet are now finding Venus a happy place in which to live.”
As usual, the WT leadership was very vague when "citing" a supposed expert to bolster their ridiculous claims. I will personally give $100 to the first person who can prove that even one peer-respected astronomer ever advanced the ludicrous idea that there are living dinosaurs on Venus.
What a load of BS!

Vanderhoven7: Great find! I had never heard this nonsense before. Wow! Just wow!
I wonder if anyone ever asked exactly how the dinos got to Venus. Or maybe the Judge just meant that the big J-Dawg created dinos there just like he did when the earth was young. Yeah, yeah, that's it!
Sheesh! Just when I thought I'd heard everything...
